B&B Challenge #21

Today’s card was made for the Blooms and Butterflies Challenge #21.

Colors used: Crushed Curry, Black, and Whisper White.

First off, I have to say that I had the brown truck come and I’m so excited about my goodies.  I used some of them on this project so I might have gotten a bit carried away but I think the project turned out cute.

I have found several cards like these on Pinterest and thought I would make mine more like a file folder but you could do this for Thank you cards, Holiday cards etc.

Wouldn’t this one be great for a Birthday card at the “office” or change the greeting for Secretary’s Day or Bosses Day?

File folder card-FrontTo start: I used a piece of Crushed Curry cut 8 1/2 x 5 1/2″ folded in half.

Used my envelope punch board to punch out at the top left of the card.

Then I moved my cardstock over to the left where it was marked at 3″ and punched the cardstock again.  Where the valley is at that punch, I then trimmed off from the valley out so that it made a straight edge. Repeat the same process on the other side of the fold if you want 2 tabs.

File folder card-Inside

I also took a piece of whisper white paper and created my “sheet of paper” for the inside.  Cut to the size you want and scored lines across and then I went over the lines with a Pool Party marker so that it looked like a torn piece from a spiral notebook. To finish, I did use a retired punch to get the spiral look along the side.

File folder card-tickets

I also took some whisper white and stamped and punched out the tickets and attached them with a paper clip.

To finish off the card, I used the grunge stamp set to make it look like ink dumped on the file folder and aged it by sponging the edges of the file folder.  I also used a framelit die to cut out for my greeting.

You could even use one of the brown inks (Baked Brown Sugar etc.) to make it look like coffee spilled. Wait that would never happen at the office, would it?

B&B challenge #20- Happy Halloween

Get ready, get set Trick or Treat….

Today’s “treat” was made for my son’s Halloween party at school today.  I am also submitting this idea for the Blooms and Butterflies Challenge #20 as well.

treat bags 1

Size of the bag: 4″ (length) x 1 1/2″ (wide) x 4″ (height)

So you can get an idea I fit in 2 fun size candy bars, a package of fruit snacks and had a pencil peeking out.  You could probably even fit in a couple more fun size candy bars inside.treat bags 2

I did use up all my Pumpkin Pie Designer Paper that I had on hand to make the bags.  These would be cute if you have the Witches Brew Designer Series Paper #132185 $10.95 (from the holiday catalog).

Now on to making the bag:

Start with paper cut to 5 1/2″ x 12″score lines

Score at 4, 5 1/2, 9 1/2 & 11 turn to portrait and score at 1 1/2″

cut lines

Cut up each score line to the score line of the 1 1/2″.

tape and punch

I then cut away a piece of the bottom since it’s not used and metered a few of the corners so the bag fits better together. I  punched the top for a handle and added some sticky strip to the side and along the back side at the bottom.  See next picture.

sticky stip

The striped paper shown would be the back side on where to place the sticky strip tape.  The flower paper shown would be the front side on where to place the sticky strip tape.  ( I hope that helps)

Fold at crease lines, assemble the bag and decorate as desired.

Other options: If you don’t have a wide oval punch then you could use ribbon or paper for the handles as well.

treat bags 3

Decorations on the bags:

I used the Halloween Bash stamp set #130577 wood or #130580 clear

Pumpkins and Ghosts: sizzix die that I have. Tied it together with some Black and orange ribbon.

(Since these were going to the 4k kids party, I didn’t want the bags to be to “scary” and I thought the ticket stamp was perfect for the occasion.)

Oh Hello Double Spinner Card

Today’s inspiration was made for the Blooms and Butterflies Challenge (BB-6).

The colors used are: Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky, and Sahara Sand

Oh Hello- Double Spinner Card

This card has 2 double spinners that move, how fun is that!
Making pinwheel

How to make a Pinwheel

Starting with a square (any size you prefer),then cut starting at the tip of the corner and cut to the center about  1/3 to halfway up . I  placed a glue dot in the center and folded in every other flap to the glue dot. Instead of using the glue dot you could also use a brad to keep them together.

Oh Hello-Double spinner pinwheel

To make the pinwheel shown, I started with the wisteria wonder cardstock and stamped the image from the OH Hello stamp set. Then cut my square at 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ . Assembled my pinwheel and finished it off with a button and pearl.

Pinwheel stopper

How to make it spin:

I used the oval framelits to cut out the cardstock and affixed my pinwheels to nickels and placed inside.  In order for them to spin at the top and bottom I used a “stopper” in the middle.

Base card cut 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

Layers: Outside layer :4th oval framelit, Center :1st oval framelit. Trim: 1st and 2nd together, 3rd & 4th together.

I made this card for my Dad’s Birthday.

Happy Big Day

Happy Big Day 2

Tip: When stamping on a embossed image- stamp first then emboss.

Card size: 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ : Layers are 1/4″ smaller: Other parts: Punched out & I used the Chalk Talk Framelits (you could cut out with scissors if you don’t have).

The inspiration for this card was spending time with the family watching the fireworks. I tried to create the fireworks on my card.

Firework Popup

Front of card with a gift bag. Depending on the size of the gift bag you make you could add stickers, sidewalk chalk. bubbles or maybe even a box of sparklers or pops (if that’s allowed in your community).

Blooms and Butterflies Color Challenge 2

This second card was designed for the Blooms and Butterflies Color Challenge using only Early Espresso, Strawberry Slush or Regal Rose and White Card stock and ink. To view the rest of the design teams cards Click Here!

Paper: Whisper White #100730 and Early Espresso #119686

Markers: Early Espresso #119680, Strawberry Slush #131260 (set of the new in colors), Rich Razzleberry #120970

Stamp Set: Oh Hello #131931(w) or #130733(c)

Emblishments: 1/4 stitched Grosgrain ribbon Whisper white #126877, Stampin Dimensionals #104430, Snail Adhesive #104332

Misc: Stamp-a-ma-jig #101049, Whisper White Craft Ink #101731.

On this card I have to give credit to my daughter Hailey for creating this one. I was in the middle of creating my other card when she came home and loved the colors and wanted to give it try. I think it turned out beautiful! Great job sweetheart.

Cut early espresso cardstock to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, fold in half. Grab your markers, ready set color your image in whatever you like. Stamp the image 3 times. If you want to have them look like the same instead of lighter or darker re-apply the marker ink in between stamping the 2nd and 3rd time. Then clean off image and re-apply marker ink to image again, rotating the color combo and stamp another 3 times, again re-apply marker ink in between each time you stamp the image. Clean off image and then rotate colors again and stamp the last set of 3 images and re-apply marker ink in between each stamped image.
Cut out each of the images or you could use a large square punch as long as it covers your image and adhere to whisper white cardstock. Note when adhering if you want some of them to pop out using stampin’ dimensionals do this at this time. In this card she popped out the first image on the first row in the corner and then the second one in the second row and the third one in the last row. It gave it a cute diagonal look by doing this. Once you have the images placed on the white cardstock she cut them out in rows (3 images each row) so that it ended up like a zig zag cut. Attach the 3 rows with snail onto the early espresso cardstock. Finished with a white bow and stamped the word thanks at the bottom, using the stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.

Blooms and Butterflies Challenge 2

This card was designed for the Blooms and Butterflies Color Challenge using only Early Espresso, Strawberry Slush or Regal Rose and White card stock and ink. To View the rest of the design teams cards Click Here!

This card was made using:

Paper: Whisper White #100730 and Early Espresso #119686

Ink Pads: Early Espresso #126974, Rich Razzleberry #126950, Strawberry Slush #131178
(I happened to use Regal Rose which was close to the Strawberry Slush since I didn’t have this color yet.)

Stamp Set:Six-Sided Sampler #130953(w) or #130956(c), Sassy salutations #132070(w) or #126707(c)

Note: You can use the bundle for the Stamp Set and Punch for 15% off #132725(w) #132724(c)

Embellishments:Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon #126871, Pearl Basic Jewels #119247, Stampin Dimensionals #104430, Snail Adhesive #104332

Punches: Hexagon #130919 or see above note.

Directions: The card base is cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 in Whisper White, Early Espresso paper cut at 5 1/4 x 4. Stamp the Six-Sided Sampler in Rich Razzleberry and Strawberry Slush or Regal Rose on to Whisper White cardstock, then punch from out using the hexagon punch. Here’s where the fun begins. I decided when making the card that I would pop some out, and sink some in. For example on the top row the first one is popped out, the second one is adhered with regular snail and the third one I punched the early espresso cardstock and then used snail to affix the image underneath. Continue doing the other rows as you like. I also cut out part of the open image to feed through the congratulations word through it. The congratulations was stamp on Whisper white with Early espresso ink and I trimmed around the edge and distressed it. I finished it with a Pearl and tied a bow using the early espresso ribbon and affixed to the one of the images.

Today’s card were designed for the Blooms and Butterflies Color Challenge using only Black and White card stock and ink. To view the rest of the design teams cards Click Here!

My first card was made using the “By the Tide” stamp set.  I used black card stock and stamped using craft white ink.  I also jazzed it up a bit using dazzling diamonds and a few rhinestones.  The fish turned out really cool I think using the dazzling diamonds it reminded me of the shimmer on fish.  I was thinking of giving this one to my dad for Father’s Day.  What do you think?

My second card was made using the Best of 25 years set “Best of Brides & Babies”. I used white card and black card stock for this one.  I stamp the Bride and Groom image using the Stazon or you can use Black ink pads.  I then masked the image and sponged around it using the black. I also used the oval framelits to create the oval on the front of the card to put the image in the window.  I also used 2 framelits to create the black circle to give it a more finished edge. I also used the smaller one to stamp “To Have and to Hold” and added a bit of white ribbon.  I also embossed the front of the card using Square Lattice folder.  I finished it with a bit of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies.
